21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

January 5-25, 2025

Join us for a powerful season of prayer and fasting as we seek to draw closer to God and align our hearts with His will. During this time, we encourage you to use the PrayFirst App (prayfirstapp), which provides tools to develop a personalized prayer list and stay focused throughout the journey.

Prayer List Suggestions

  • We invite everyone at Grace Church to include these items in their prayer list, either on the app or in your personal journal:
  • To find or develop my own beloved community.
  • For God to show me people with whom I can share the Gospel.
  • Specific people who need Jesus.
  • For someone I can disciple.
  • For someone to disciple me.
  • The Pastors and staff at Grace.
  • The Elders at Grace.
  • The leaders of our country

Fasting Overview

The goal of fasting is to draw nearer to God by eliminating distractions and resetting our spiritual focus. Fasting renews us from the inside out, allows us to celebrate God’s goodness, and prepares our hearts for His plans. Choose a fast that challenges you while honoring your body’s needs and seeking the Holy Spirit’s guidance.

Types of Fasts

  • Complete Fast: Only liquids, such as water, coffee, and juice.
  • Selective Fast: Remove certain foods (e.g., the Daniel Fast involves omitting meats, sweets, or bread while eating fruits and vegetables).
  • Partial Fast: Abstain from eating during specific times (e.g., 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. or from sunup to sundown).
  • Soul Fast: Abstain from non-food distractions like social media or television to refocus on God.

Timing of a Fast

At Grace Church, we encourage fasting during our annual 21 Days of Prayer in January. However, fasting can also be practiced at other times for spiritual growth. Whether fasting for a single meal, a day, or multiple days, the focus should remain on seeking God and drawing closer to Him.
