What will you be doing?

City Relief is a mobile outreach to those struggling with homelessness and poverty. This Go Team will serve soup, bread, hot chocolate, distribute hygiene kits, and pray for friends on the street while in NYC. Minimum age to serve is 18 years old on the day of service.

What is included in the cost?

Lodging, meals, and transportation costs to each outreach site. The group will be staying in a VRBO home close to the City Relief base. The team will travel to New York on Monday and will meet with City Relief staff upon arrival for orientation. The team will serve with City Relief Wednesday-Saturday, and will have a free day as a team on Tuesday to explore the city. You will need extra spending money for food on Tuesday and travel days. All other meals will be provided by City Relief while on the trip. The team will travel home on Sunday.

Important Information

Payments

  • Team members are responsible for their cost of the trip and background check fee of $12.00*.
  • Trip cost is due at the time of the first team meeting.

Mandatory Meetings

  • There are two mandatory meetings before the trip that you are required to attend. These meetings are a crucial point in your journey of stepping out to serve. We will answer any questions you have as well as give important, relevant information about the trip.
  • Team commissioning - Before the trip, the pastor commissions the team on the platform at the Berlin Campus to go and serve. Each team member is required to attend.
  • Team Debrief - After the trip, the team will meet with Pastor Larry to discuss the Go Team Questions and discuss any improvements / changes for future trips.

Volunteer Release Forms/Background Checks

  • All volunteers must complete a City Relief volunteer release form and background check*. Links will be emailed to you upon trip registration.

Covid-19 

  • ALL service trip participants are required to provide City Relief with a negative COVID test result from a lab (proctored home tests are accepted) BEFORE traveling to the base. The test results should be within a few days of arrival to be considered valid at the time of service week.
  • All volunteers must wear a mask while serving serving food.
