New York City, NY

Cost: $300

What will you be doing?

City Relief is a mobile outreach to those struggling with homelessness and poverty. This Go Team will serve soup, bread, hot chocolate, distribute hygiene kits, and pray for friends on the street while in NYC.

What is included in the cost?

Lodging, meals, and transportation costs to each outreach site. All bedding and towels for use during your stay are included as well: 1 sleeping bag or comforter, 1 pillow and pillowcase, 1 bath towel, 1 hand towel and 1 washcloth. You will need additional money for food if the team decides to explore the city. Also, feel free to bring extra spending money, but it is not required!

Important Information

Payments

  • Team members are responsible for their cost of the trip.
  • Trip cost is due at the time of the first team meeting.

Mandatory Meetings

  • There is one meeting before the trip that you are required to attend. The meetings are a crucial point in your journey of stepping out to serve. We will answer any questions you have as well as give important, relevant information about the trip.
  • Team commissioning - Before the trip, the pastor commissions the team on the platform to go and serve. It will be held on Nov 28 at the Berlin campus during both gatherings (8:30am & 10:30am). Each team member is required to attend.
  • Team Debrief - After the trip, the team will meet with Pastor Larry to discuss the Go Team Questions and discuss any improvements / changes for future trips.

Covid-19

  • Click here for City Relief's COVID policies and procedures.
  • City Relief requires negative COVID tests from all team members, including those that are vaccinated.
  • ALL volunteers dorming at the base must provide City Relief a negative COVID test before travelling to the base. The test must be administered within 3 days of your trip so the results are valid upon arrival.
  • NYC now requires patrons to be vaccinated to enter indoor restaurants and entertainment. If not all team members are vaccinated (at least one dose) it will limit sight-seeing opportunities to venues offering outdoor experiences. There are still plenty of things to do outside like visiting the 9-11 Memorial, Chelsea Market, The High Line, Central Park and so on.
  • With rising numbers of COVID infection and hospitalizations, City Relief is mandating that all unvaccinated volunteers wear a mask both while on the streets and indoors. All volunteers must wear a mask while indoors, including on our vehicles and at our base. We will request proof of vaccination for those wishing to be unmasked outdoors at our outreaches.

*Minimum age to serve is 18 years old.
